I haven't posted in a long time. I have lots to be thankful and praise God for. My wife is doing really well since her surgery (herniated disk in neck). She just got a job with Blue Cross Blue Shield starting in August. It seems like every time I pray for someone, something good happens. I even prayed for inspiration in songwriting and I just wrote my first song of praise(and thanksgiving)!
I'm really excited about it. I'm going to try to record a demo version some time this week and post it on My Space and/or my webpage. Gotta go back to work.

It's a beautiful day today. Way too nice to be at work. I'd really like to be outside somewhere playing my guitar, or playing with my dogs. I know my friend Ron took the day off to do some recording at home. I'm really wanting a new acoustic guitar with a smaller neck. I covet this Seagull Entourage Mini Jumbo. Maybe we'll get a nice bonus this year at work! Well as my wife says " if it's mean to be it will be".

I'm just coming back from lunch and thought. It's been about 6 months since I've posted. I need to do a major overhaul on my webpage. I'm going to stop procrastinating...tomorrow. ~(8(l)
My wife, Shelby is going to have surgery on a herniated disk in her neck on Tues. May 8th. Please pray for her and her doctors. I know that prayer is a powerful thing, especially when more than one person is praying. I've got to go back to work, but I will be posting more often.

I've been thinking lately about what great bands were around here in the late 70s.
H-Bombs, Secret Service, The Fabulous Knobs, Cigaretz, X-Teens, Bad Checks, and that
"just for fun punk group", Butchwax. We(Butchwax) got to play on the same bill as Secret Service,Cigaretz, Bad Checks and the Fabulous Knobs at places like the Free Advice, Cafe Deja Vu, The Pier and the Cat's Cradle. Some of the most fun times I can remember. There is a great blog site with mp3s from these groups and more that you should check out.

Small World
I played in a local band called Butchwax in the late 70's early 80's. One of
my co-workers said she saw us at the Cats Cradle when she was 18. One of her
best friends is Robert Keely (H-Bombs, Nevermind, Secret Service). She also
knows Mitch Easter. Mitch and Bobby were two of my local heroes after I saw the
H-Bombs for the first time. My buddy Ron has been talking with Dave Gourley (Secret
Service) about recording. I'm itching to make some music. I dislocated my index
finger on my fret hand about a month ago, so I haven't been able to play guitar.
I hope I can start soon though.

What a slacker I've been. No posts in 6 months. I've posted a couple of times on my myspace
blog, but I had intended for this to be my blog. I'm sitting here at work, drinking some Jamaica
Blue Mountain Blend, listening to the Zombies Greatest Hits and not really wanting to work.
Listened to Over Under Sideways Down when I came in this morning...what a great record!

FINALLY FRIDAY!!!

It's been a long week. I'm leaving for Portland on Tuesday for a Print Music Dealer Conference.
I work for Oxford University Press and I'm the lead for our sheet music customer service, so they
send me to this conference and I get to meet a lot of people that I've talked to on the phone for years! I've been trying to make sure I'm caught up as much as possible before I leave. I hate leaving my wife and dogs for almost 6 days, but I'm sure I'll have a good time.
OH! My runaway pup came home Tuesday night!!! Raina, his sister, made sure we knew when he came up on the porch. They have been having the best time since he's come back. I was so thankful that he was safe and and unhurt. He was hungry and had a lot of ticks on him, but he's doing great now.
My buddy Kurt Fortmeyer is supposed to come by Pheasant Creek Coffee House in Apex tonight for their open mic if by some miracle any locals read this! Stop by. He's a great songwriter and story teller and really funny too.

LOST 2 OF MY PUPS TO PARVO

Man, this has been a bad month. First our water heater goes out, then the
car dies, then we lose the 2 babies. The other 2 are looking healthy. I'm
praying that they will stay that way. The water heater and car may have
cost more money, but the puppies sure hurt more.

THIS HAS BEEN ONE MONTH I'D LIKE TO FORGET ABOUT

First our hot water heater goes out, leaks and soaks our closet and the
carpet in our bedroom. Then our car dies, so we have to spend our mortgage
money on a used car. This past week we lost 2 puppies to Parvo and now one
of the 2 that we think are going to make it is missing....SHEESH! I'm hoping that
someone in the neighborhood saw him and took him home. Maybe they'll want to
adopt him. I just want to know that he's safe. I took his sister(who we inted to keep)
out with a leash this morning.
At least the Sox finally won a game after losing 3 in a row. Maybe things will start looking
up. I try to be optimistic!

UPS AND DOWNS

It's been a stress filled week, to say the least. Already struggling to pay the bills and survive,
our car died on Monday. On top of that our supervisor (one of the most loved people here)
has taken another job. Today is his last day. My wife has been crying already, even after the valium. We did get another car last night. That's one big weight off our chests.
I am really excited that Bronson Arroyo hit his second big league home run! It was Bronson 1,
Willy Mo 0, but now Willy Mo hit his first last night!
Time for some more Costa Rica Peaberry and maybe some work....nah. Just the coffee will be fine for now.

One damn thing or another, next 10,000 miles!

It's just like my uncle Carlos Santana Rosannadana used to say, "It's always somethin'"
I've had 2 major screw-ups with my bank account in the last month. I did a check by phone
payment on my late mortgage to come out the following week (of course they f....ng ran it through the same day). Then I pay a credit card bill online. It gets duplicated. SHEEESH!
On a positive note the Sox have won 2 out of 3 and the Spankmees have lost 2 straight!
My boy Bronson Arroyo hit a homerun for the Reds yesterday and struck out 7 Cubs.

Sox Win Opener!!!
Looks like Schill is strong and healthy again. He pitched 7 innings and struck out 5. He had
his fastball up to 96mph, but said he didn't have a good splitter. His new changeup got a couple
of outs for him, though. I'm excited that Mike Lowell homered. It was pretty much a given that
Big Papi would (no surprise there). Coco Crisp made a great catch to get Foulke out of trouble in
the 9th. Jonathan Papelbon came in and pitched a perfect 8th and got a strikeout. He's gonna be a good one.
Yankees won too (Damon had a good game!) I love this game!
Oh well, I guess I better go back and do some work now, but first I'll pour myself another cup of
Brazilian French Roast.

STORMY MONDAY
It's 10:15am. I just looked out the window at work and it looks like night time! Raining pretty
good. We need that. I'm on my 5th cup of Mocca Java already and the rain still makes me want to go home and crawl back under the sheets.
Baseball season opens today! RedSox vs Rangers in TX at 2:05. Schilling vs Millwood. I'm more excited about that than the Final Four.

Buck Owens
August 12, 1929-March 25, 2006. My all-time favorite singer passed away early Saturday. I heard about it on the 11:00 news. I got up and went to my computer and put a little picture and memorial on there. I grew up watching the Buck Owens Ranch Show with my Dad (way before Hee Haw). My dad's favorite song was "My Heart Skips a Beat". It's right up there at the top for me too. I loved Buck. He was wholesome. He was an amazing singer and guitar player. I think he wrote the greatest country song ever in "Together Again". I played several Buck songs on my guitar last night. My break is over, I'll probably put up a page on my website about him and maybe write some more in my blog (here and at My Space), but I have to go back to work now.

Well, I'm beginning to accept that the Sox traded my favorite player for a right handed power-hitter with a lot of potential. I'll miss Bronson, but I will follow his career with the Reds
and hope that he wins the NL Cy Young this year! Good luck Bronson!
I've been trying to build my new website. I really want to do everything in notepad and write
all the code myself. I'm trying to learn as much about HTML as I can(and CSS and XHTML),
so it'll be slow going, but it is fun.

On my morning break at work. Rainy day is making me wish I was home on the living room floor with my puppies, taking a nap.
I'm beginning to understand the Red Sox trading Saturn for Willy Mo. It's a business decision. What's best for the organization. It will give Bronson a spot as the #2 starter for the Reds. Could be good for him. Willy Mo has a lot of potential, but has been handled badly by previous teams, especially the Yankees. We'll see how he develops playing with Manny and Big Papi.
I actually picked up my guitar and played for an hour or so last night. It was fun. Really felt good to play and sing.

MY FIRST BLOG
This is my first blog entry, so bear with me. I'm a huge Red Sox fan and today my favorite player got traded to the Reds. Bronson Arroyo was the most consistent pitcher on the team
last year. He also signed a 3 year deal for much less than he could have gotten as a free agent
to stay in Boston(against his agent's advice). In these days of greed where the player and their agents are only interested in how much money they can get, I think that kind of loyalty should be rewarded. In '94 before Arroyo's start against the Yankee's in the ALCS, Curt Schilling said
"I'll take the kid. He's got nuts the size of Saturn." On the Sons of Sam Horn ( a popular Red Sox
bulletin board where Schilling often posts) the members all call him Saturn now. I'm going to
miss seeing his leg kick, great breaking ball and corn rows in a Sox uniform, but I will be watching and pulling for him to do well in the National League. Thanks for everything Saturn.
